What does the caller pay?

Your caller in the U.S. is responsible for local charges assessed by their local telecom provider for dialing your U.S. virtual phone number. The good news is that most U.S. customers have unlimited calling plans with their mobile and/or fixed land line providers. Calling your U.S. virtual phone number, whether or not it is actually “local” to their U.S. telephone number, will likely incur minimal - if any - cost to the vast majority of U.S. callers.

If your caller is calling from outside the U.S., he/she will incur whatever charges their long distance provider assesses for making an international call to the U.S.

If you opt for getting a U.S. toll free number, the caller pays nothing since this call is toll free from anywhere in the U.S.

What does the account holder pay?

As the account holder, you pay the rate of forwarding the call from your U.S. virtual phone number to your "ring to" telephone number in Kazakhstan. Your rate depends on the plan that you select. Your "ring to" number may be a fixed land line or a mobile phone, and you may change it to another number in Kazakhstan or anywhere else in the world via online account management.

History of U.S. - Kazakhstan Relations

Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the United States, on December 25, 1991, was the first country to recognize Kazakhstan’s independence. The United States opened its Embassy in Almaty in January 1992 and then relocated to Astana in 2006. The United States opened a Consulate General in Almaty in 2009. In the years since Kazakhstan's independence, the two countries have developed a strong and wide-ranging bilateral relationship.

Kazakhstan is the 74th largest importer of goods from the United States and the 70th largest exporter of goods to the United States, with a total of $2.6 billion in two-way trade in 2013. U.S. firms have invested more than $42 billion in Kazakhstan between 1993 and 2013. These companies are concentrated in the oil and gas, business services, telecommunications, and electrical energy sectors. Kazakhstan has made progress in creating a favorable investment climate, although serious problems, including arbitrary enforcement of laws and corruption, remain. A U.S.-Kazakhstan Bilateral Investment Treaty and a Treaty on the Avoidance of Dual Taxation have been in place since 1994 and 1996, respectively. In 2001, Kazakhstan and the United States established the U.S.-Kazakhstan Energy Partnership. Accession to the World Trade Organization remains a top priority for the government of Kazakhstan.

U.S. Government assistance to Kazakhstan focuses on combating transnational threats (trafficking in persons,

narcotics, terrorists, and weapons of mass destruction materiel), improving the functioning of the judiciary, promoting an increased public role for civil society and mass media, maintaining Kazakhstan’s open investment and trade environment, and helping the government provide effective social services.

For more information about the U.S. and Kazakhstan relationship, you can visit the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Washington, D.C. website as well as the United States Diplomatic Mission to Kazakhstan website.
